"This administration has so many Muslim Brotherhood members that have influence that they just are making wrong decisions for America.”

Rep. Louie Gohmert

U.S. representative for Texas’s 1st congressional district

Louie Gohmert is the representative for Texas’s 1st congressional district. A member of the Tea Party Caucus, Gohmert is famous for delivering fiery speeches on the House floor, often making hateful and bigoted remarks about Arabs and Muslims.

In 2010, Gohmert made comments on the House floor regarding “terror babies" and later appeared on Anderson Cooper 360 to defend his statements. Gohmert claimed extremists send their pregnant wives to the United States to give birth to "terror babies" who return home with their mothers only to then come back to the United States "twenty, thirty years down the road ... to help destroy our way of life."

In June 2012, he joined a letter to the Obama administration authored by former Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), alleging infiltration of the U.S. government by the Muslim Brotherhood.

In the wake of the Boston marathon bombings, Gohmert claimed that "radical Islamists" are "being trained to come in [to the U.S.] and act like Hispanics."

And on a Fox News program in August 2014, Gohmert said he would not call ISIS, or the Islamic State of Syria and al-Sham, "radical Islam" but rather "devout Islamists" because ISIS fighters are merely following the teachings of Islam.
