"I have to agree with Robert Spencer that moderate Islam does not exist. I will only change his phrase to “moderate Islam does not currently exist.” - Tawfik Hamid

Tawfik Hamid

Chair of the study of Islamic radicalism at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies

Tawfik Hamid is a self-described “Muslim reformer” and an alleged former member of the Egyptian terrorist organization al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya, or “The Islamist Group.” In his former capacity as a Centre for Counterterrorism Strategic Studies faculty member, Hamid gave lectures stating that Muslims “prefer this violent traditional teaching of Islam."

Hamid is connected to many of the members in the Islamophobia network, including Frank Gaffney, David Horowitz, and Brigitte Gabriel. On March 3, 2011, Tawfik Hamid participated in a press conference co-hosted by the Liberty Alliance Coalition and the Center for Security Policy, about the alleged threat of Sharia law to the United States. He also regularly appears as a guest on Gaffney's Secure Freedom Radio.

His lectures, “The Mentality of Terror: Understanding Why and How Terrorists Are Proliferating in the West” and “The Roots of Jihad: What Americans Need to Understand to Save America,” focus on the threat of radical Islam infiltrating America.
